Below you will see some of the bestselling games in the market right now. I recommend Spore (I haven't had issues with the DRM), World of Warcraft, anything from the Command and Conquer series, as well as any other strategy games. I came to realize that I play a very limited selection of games, and only buy things that I think are going to be really, really good and offer lasting replayability. I'm not keen on paying for a $50 computer game if it's not bringing anything new to the genre.
My longtime favorites are Civilization 4, Fallout 2, Knights of the Old Republic, Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, The Sims (great with all the expansions), Red Alert 2, and Age of Wonders 2. All of these titles come highly recommended by me, and have earned great reviews from the gaming community. I don't recommend MMORPGs if you want to experience all the great games that are coming out very soon and in the near future because they suck up so much of your time. I prefer to get out there and experience everything, and spending literally 40 days of real life time logged into World of Warcraft seriously cost me!
I must advise you to be careful about buying PC games used. With DRM technology being employed by game developers, you may find that the product has been "activated" too many times and have difficulty getting your game to work! Console titles are just fine in this regard, as piracy is not such a large issue for those types of games. In fact, I usually recommend it. Look for sellers from amazon.com that have good sales reputations and buy the used titles from them!

Platformer
To label LittleBigPlanet a platformer seems unfair when in fact it is much, much more. In essence, the game completely revolutionizes the genre. Perhaps the coolest feature is the ability to make your own levels for the game. This is important, because all in all the single player game is not very long.
The level building system can be a bit clunky to use, making the creation of huge stages unlikely to be undertaken by casual gamers. You've really got to be dedicated to make a level as large and detailed as those that come in the box. The alternative is to play the user-created stages of other players, which can be very detailed and creative. A combination of these factors makes Playstation 3 gamers with internet access the more likely candidates to enjoy the game. That's not to say the offline is boring, you can still play with your friends in person and create your own stages for your own enjoyment. You will, however need a friend to experience the full depth of the game, as certain areas are inaccessible to a single sackboy or girl alone.

Gears of War is a bit like a hybrid between first person shooter and survival horror.The game is rendered beautifully using the Unreal 3 engine and the mighty Xbox 360 hardware. It's truly the game that Xbox fans have been waiting for to see just how powerful Microsoft's console has become. Although the campaign is short, the multiplayer is great, providing excellent replayability for users of Xbox live. Players who enjoy the single player campaign will find that they can ease their way in, playing each mission on an easy setting, then move on to more difficult paths later. This isn't simply a mechanical change in difficulty, the path you take changes dramatically depending on what difficulty level you choose to play. Gears of War is a step in the right direction for the First Person Shooter genre. The original title is great for people who want to see just how great Gears of War can be without paying the full price for the newer title.

Gears of War 2 picks up six months after the events of the original hit Xbox 360 game. The game features innovative squad-based gameplay, gorgeous graphics, and enough blood to satisfy the most sadistic of gamers. While the gameplay is much unchanged from the original (that is not necessarily a bad thing), it does feature new ways to finish opponents, a longer campaign and an online matchmaking system. Overall, Gears of War 2 is great for players who begged for more after sinking their teeth into the first entry in the series. They won't find it is a different experience with regards to weapons and enemies in the game, but will enjoy the improved co-op and multiplayer features.
