What you need: A bucket, 50 rune essence and the capability to defeat a level 30 monster
The Quest Reward: Wolfbane Sword, Access to Canifis, 1 Quest point and 1,406 prayer experience.

To start the quest, speak to King Roald in the Varrock Palace. He's found in a dining room in the northeastern corner of the castle. He'll ask you to go check up on his friend, Drezel, who lives in a temple east of Varrock. Before you leave, if you have a high enough magic level, take the runes you need to teleport back to Varrock. Otherwise, you're walking. Also, if you think you need it, you might want to bring some food to fight the level 30 temple guardian.

To get to the temple, travel out the eastern gate of Varrock and follow the road as it heads to the north. When you reach the end, go east and open the gate (if necessary), then follow the road all the way east. You'll eventually reach the temple. When you do, right click on the door and select knock. When prompted, tell the voice that you'll help him. You'll be told to kill an annoying dog. Easy, right?

Head just north of the temple and go down the trap door. You'll meet the level 30 temple guardian. Kill it, using some prayers if you have to. Afterward, return to the temple and knock again. A voice will laugh at you and tell you to go tell the king what a great job you did.

Do just that. Use either your teleportation (or good old fashioned legs) and go back to the King of Varrock. He'll be extremely angry with you for killing the dog, for it was guarding the route to Morytania.

Before returning to the temple, stop by the general store and pick up a bucket for 2 gp. Now go back to the temple and knock once more. The door will open, allowing you entry. You should now climb the staircase to the northeast of the main room, then the ladder on the next floor. Right click on the cell door and select 'talk through cell door'. Listen to Drezel's long story and agree to help him.

You must now get a golden key by killing the level 30 Monk of Zamorak on the first floor. When you get it, take the key back to the underground where the Temple Guardian was killed earlier. The gate to the south should be unlocked this time, allowing you to pass. Follow the tunnel as it curves south, then east. You'll find yourself in a room full of statues. Look for the one that says, "Sardomin is the key that unlocks the mysteries of life" (I found that to be the southeastern one). Use the golden key on the statue to swap it for the iron key.

Now that you have the iron key, go back to the top floor of the temple and free Drezel from his cell. Unfortunately, he's still captive because he cannot pass by the vampire's coffin. You have to find a way to deal with the vampire. Drezel suggests that the blessed water of the nearby river might be able to help you. This is where the bucket comes into play.

Return to the underground area where you just got the iron key. You'll see a well in the center of the statues. Use the bucket with the well and it will be full of water. Go back to Drezel with the bucket and he will bless the water. Now simply use the holy water on the coffin to allow Drezel to leave the temple and assess the damage.

Once more, go to the underground temple of Sardomin. Head east of the well area and you'll find Drezel in a library of sorts. Talking to him will reveal that he needs 50 rune essence to repair the damage. Hopefully you have done the rune mysteries quest and are able to mine essence. If not, you can view my walkthrough or buy the rune essence from other players. I recommend doing the quest, as it's not very difficult. Note that you can't give Drezel bank notes to complete the quest. You'll have to carry nearly two full loads of rune essence to him to gather the 50 he needs. When you've given him all 50, you're done with the quest and recieve your reward.
