Homeworld 2 Walkthrough
Mission 13 - Balcora Gate
This is not the type of mission of which it is easy to write a walkthrough. You start out under attack by multiple battlecruisers and large groups of Vagyr are attacking the installation you are trying to save. There are three power generators and one of the must survive. Start moving your entire fleet, save the production ships, toward the stargate.
Destroy the first group of Vagyr (easy) then concentrate on the battlecruisers. I encountered five of the bastards. Have everything but the dreadnought attack them. Use the dreadnought to attack the shipyard you encounter a little further in. While things are moving along, you're going to want to keep pumping out ships at your production facilities to support your fleet.
Destroy the shipyard with the dreadnought but focus on anything that attacks it first and foremost. After the shipyard is down, your other ships are probably finishing up the battlecruisers. Make sure you begin your assault on the ships attacking the power generators right away. Focus on those that were nearest to the shipyard first, then attack the others.
You'll be glad it only takes one power generator to survive because it's likely you'll lose the other two in the heat of battle. Keep up the fight and try to take down as many Vagyr as possible as quickly as possible, got it? Before too long your dreadnought will begin communicating with the stargate and you will warp through, circumventing the battle.
User-Submitted Tip: in Balcora, I think there's a easier way to get pass the wall of 6 Vagar battlecruisers: send your own battlecruisers to a destination behind Makaan's flagship (have your group move underneath the cruisers and bypass them completely) have your battlecruisers, dreadnaught, and destroyers (make sure you have some gunships and pulsars to deal with the remaining fighters) kill the flagship while you send in around 10 squads of bombers, 5 squads of scouts (to keep some cannons distracted, since scouts are pretty fast, or interceptors, depending on which you perfer), and all of your ion frigates to try and destroy the enemy dreadnaught and, if you can, the battlecruisers, but I doubt you'd get anywhere with the battlecruisers, it's just a distraction, while your own BCs and Dreadnaught kill the flagship, you won't need the frigates anyways in the next mission, so don't worry about unit loss. Thanks Again Linjie Wu
