Cannes: The Shark and the Lure

Mission Objectives:
  • Get spies into the Port buildings
  • Get Tanya into the Port Authority Building
  • Rescue the Allied Leaders
  • Neutralize the base defenses guarding the vindicators

    Tanya can handle almost everything on this island on her own. Use your spies to turn off power to the dangerous Tesla coilsYou will need to use a combination of spies and the allied commando unit, Tanya, to complete this mission. First, train an extra spy at your barracks. They are disposable, but if you have more money later the rest of the mission will be easier, so be careful. Your first goal should be to take out the southern island. Take Tanya along with four spies to the south, but stop near the shore. There's a tesla coil and its power needs to be brought offline. Use a spy (disguise your spies as a group using a soviet infantry unit as a target). Take the spy to the power plant near the tesla coil to shut it down. Now, don't destroy this power plant, but have Tanya take out the tesla coil. Once the area is secured it's a good place to park your spies while Tanya does some killing.


    Send Tanya east, mowing down any infantry in her way. Use the attack move as much as possible. Take out any barracks you see. When you see the second tesla coil on the eastern coast, use one of your spies back near the power plant to bring it offline, then blow up the tesla coil with Tanya. You can now use your remaining two spies to infiltrate the port buildings on the island, making sure Tanya is near to take out any bears. When that is done, it's time to get some aircraft.

    Take Tanya off the east coast and into the water. Swim southeastward, toward the small island. Shoot any bears you encounter, but push toward that island! You will see that there are tesla coils protecting it. The reactors are undefended, however, and lie offshore to the southwest of the island. Blow up the four of them, and the vindicators are yours. Take Tanya up on the shore to kill the small number of infantry stationed there. Prepare four more spies back at your base.

    Hotkey your vindicators and prepare to do some serious bombing runs. Send all four at once at a dreadnought near the shore. Focus your fire. If you send them after a particular dreadnought on one run, do so on the next one, as well. Take Tanya back toward the western shore of the Soviet-controlled island and do the same as before. This time though, protect your spies out in the water against the bears with Tanya. When you send one to infiltrate a power plant and take it offline, send the rest to stand there while Tanya does her work. Move slowly with your ground forces, making the bombing runs your priority.

    As you head to the east, stop when you see the two barracks. Use a spy to take out a second power plant and move on the tesla coil and barracks. Work your way north. Once the only enemies left are those behind the fence near the two tesla coils, you're safe to send the spies into the port buildings. Tanya can go into the Port Authority building last.

    This base can be tackled with a medium-sized army with the help of your co-commander. Bring plenty of guardian tanks to destroy buildings quickly.With that done, you will gain extra buildings at your base. Start pumping out guardian tanks and IFVs, with infantry thrown in for good measure. Order your co-commander to plan an attack at the soviet base, while your vindicators continue bombing runs against the dreadnoughts. When they're all wiped out, the soviet base will appear as an objective.

    Finishing it off is no big challenge, especially with your co-commander's help. You can even sacrifice your vindicators to bombard a couple of their sentry guns. Order your co-commander to strike the soviet war factory and they'll send all they have at it, while you can follow the charge and mop up. Use the guardian tanks' special ability to designate a target and increase damage against that target. This helps a lot, and you only need one or two guardians performing this for it to be effective. Once at the base, make the turrets your priority, followed by production buildings then the construction yard.
