Mt. Fuji: To Tame a Living God

Mission Objectives:
  • Assassinate the Emperor
  • Create a diversion
  • Destroy Shinji's base
  • Destroy Naomi's base
  • Destroy Kenji's base
  • Destroy the Emperor's palace

To say that a war bear and soviet conscript are not much of an army is a bit of an understatement. Still, if you follow the right path these two can do a great deal of damage on their own! This mission opens with a small squad-based covert operation. Thankfully, it is really not that difficult. You must head south, hug the wall, then take the first turn to the west that you see. Hug the southern wall and follow it west until you can go south again. You will see some guards. Try to avoid them. They tend to move out of the way when you try to go south down the stairs.

You can go east again once you descend the stairs. You'll go through a row of white trees. Hug the southern wall to avoid the moving power core. You should see a building with some barrels nearby. If you shoot the barrel closest to the stairs, the building should blow up, which will allow you to go through the garden and reach the emperor. When you kill him, it will turn out to be a decoy and your reinforcements will arrive, causing the map to expand.

The game should autosave for you here. If you lose the mission from this point, be sure to load your game to avoid doing the squad section again.

Move one of your apocalypse tanks toward the oil derrick to defend it. Work on a soviet barracks to train an engineer to capture it, then defend it with some tesla coilsWhen you gain battlefield control, the first building you should construct is a reactor. This will allow you to construct a crane, which you should place near your construction yard so that you can repair them easily. Send one apocalypse tank directly north of your construction yard, while the other heads east toward the oil derrick. When the crane is done, you can build a super reactor with your primary yard, and a normal reactor with the crane. It is important to set up some static anti-air defenses in the form of flak cannons. Place two near the oil refinery, just to the west of it so that any air attacks will be met with two sources of firepower.

Build a barracks as soon as possible, likely from your crane. When the first super reactor is done at your main construction yard, build a second. As soon as the barracks is done, train an engineer to take the oil derrick, and start a war factory. Build a tesla coil near the derrick to help your apocalypse tank, while you place a third flak cannon to the northwest so that it can cover that entry point to your base from mecha tengus. A battle lab should be the next priority.

Build two hammer tanks, a sickle, a bullfrog and a sputnik. Keep your apocalypse tanks repaired while these are being created. You will use the small force of units you created from your war factory to expand to the north. Place the sputnik so that one square worth of land is controllable to the east of it. You can immediately place in order (from the northwestern side of the refinery) a flak cannon, tesla coil and sentry gun.

Next comes a shipyard, off the coast of your co-commander's base. When the shipyard is done begin creating four dreadnoughts, six akula subs, six stingrays and six bullfrog transports. It is in your best interest to take out Naomi's coastal base from the sea. Save your magnetic satellite (buy the second upgrade if possible) to use against her Shogun battleships. If you get a glimpse of Naomi's navy while you are waiting, suck up as many of them as you can.

Pound Naomi's base from the sea, then your co-commander will be free to work with you at taking out the other empire of the rising sun commanders. When your navy is done, go after Naomi. Set the dreadnoughts to their own attack group while the rest are in one of their own. It is very important that you be able to fire from range with the dreadnoughts to take out Naomi's Shoguns. The attacks against your land base will eventually slow to the point that they are ignorable. Move very slowly as you push north with your navy, so that the dreadnoughts do most of the work against the large ships. Everything else can defend them from approaching cruisers and smaller ships.

While your navy moves, fire up your war factory and build several apocalypse tanks, and half a dozen each of bullfrogs, hammer tanks, sickles and four V4 rocket launchers.

Naomi's base should seem pretty soft with naval superiority and the support of your command abilities (vacuum, orbital dump). Use the dreadnoughts to hit their shipyards and the static defenses that are on the land. It will not be difficult to wipe almost all of Naomi's base from the sea. Nuke it all and she'll be done quickly. Use a bullfrog or stingray to find targets for the dreadnoughts. If you see any high-value targets like King Onis in Naomi's base, hit them with your dreadnoughts.

Back at your land base, things should be going very, very well. When Naomi is down, group your V4s into their own group, while everything else except a couple apoc tanks to defend your base go into their own group.

The rest of this mission is a simple matter of taking out Shinji and Kenji's bases. Do so by moving slowly with your land forces while using the V4s to fire off salvos at the wave force towers, and defender vx turrets. Losses should be minimal.

The emperor will come out in a modified king oni to take on your forces. He's tough, but you should have a far superior army to finish him off. When all three bases are down, the map expands once more. You will be able to rescue the bear and conscript that were captured earlier. They're located to the northeast. You could send about ten twinblades to do this dirty work. The remainders of your navy should handle the power generators to the north that appear as a secondary objective. Don't neglect to reinforce them if they lack bullfrogs or any other naval unit.

If your navy gets wiped, finish up the power plants with twinblades. At this point, all should be good for you to take on the emperor's palace. Proceed just as you did in the rest of the mission. You should have so much money that even if your attackers wipe completely you can come back and finish it off. When the palace is destroyed, the emperor will appear in a modified King Oni that a group of apocalypse tanks will have no trouble defeating. Hit him with everything you have!
