Carl's Rise of Legends Guide
Vinci Units: Steam Fortress
Units which come from the steam fortress all require a large city to produce. The steam fortress doubles as an excellent defense building as it can fire on enemies. This damage is much greater than the standard cannon the vinci use for ground/air defense. Steam fortresses cost 200 timonium to create. Initially, you can only build steam cannons and will have to research the other two units available here.
Note about Ramping unit costs: Ramping increases the cost of a unit for each unit of a same type that is built. For example, a heartseeker begins costing 45 wealth. With a ramping increase of 3 wealth, the second heartseeker would cost you 48 wealth; the third 51 and so forth. It's wise to have a diversified army because of this increase. Some units have extremely high ramping costs.
Steam Cannon
Initial Stats:
Steam Cannon: Ground Attack: 6 / Siege Attack: 35 / Air Attack: None / Range: 20 / Health: 275 / Speed: 22 / Line of Sight: 24 / Size: Large / Armor: Medium / Attack Type: Skilled and Accurate Requires Large City
Super Steam Cannon: Ground Attack: 7 / Siege Attack: 40 / Air Attack: None / Range: 20 / Health: 375 / Speed: 25 / Line of Sight: 24 / Size: Large / Armor: Medium / Attack Type: Skilled and Accurate Requires Great City
Cost: 65 Timonium and Wealth. Ramping increase of 25 Timonium and Wealth. population cost 3
Steam Cannons are the siege weapon of choice for the Vinci army. They deliver powerful siege attacks at a huge range and should focus on destroying buildings for that reason. Their ground attack is not too great and was weakened to not feature splash/knockdown on infantry with patch 2.0. You should try to have at least one or two of these with you when attacking enemy fortifications. Upgrading to the super steam cannon is definitely worth the cost as you get more bang for your buck and it improves their survivability by quite a lot by granting them 100 extra hit points.
Juggernaut
Initial Stats:
Juggernaut: Ground Attack: 18 / Siege Attack: 14 / Range: 14 / Health: 810 / Air Attack: 7 / Speed: 25 / Line of Sight: 18 / Size: Large / Armor: Heavy / Attack Type: Pounding Requires Large City
Ultra Juggernaut: Ground Attack: 23 / Siege Attack: 21 / Range: 14 / Health: 1000 / Air Attack: 11 / Speed: 35 / Line of Sight: 18 / Size: Large / Armor: Heavy / Attack Type: Pounding Requires Great City
Cost: 300 Timonium and 50 Wealth. Ramping increase of 25 Timonium and 3 Wealth. population cost 7
Juggernauts are good units, period. Their high hit points ensure they will be around for a long time unless there's a massive army focusing on them. Their damage is full vs. large units and they deal 75% damage to medium units. The 50% penalty against small units isn't so big when considering that their damage rating is already fairly high. Their trample is massive so you will find it quite useful to trample massed infantry with them.
Juggernauts feature a weak anti-air attack so they do have some extra versatility. One of these will be a huge asset if you can get it when your capital first reaches large city status. If you can afford it, the upgrade to ultra juggernaut increases their power by a large amount, especially in the speed and siege attack departments. The increase in speed will make trampling enemy infantry that much more effective.
Land Leviathan
Initial Stats:
Land Leviathan: Ground Attack: 50 / Siege Attack: 67 / Air Attack: 33 / Ground Range: 17 / Air Range: 17 / Health: 3600 / Speed: 22 / Line of Sight: 21 / Size: Master / Armor: Heavy / Attack Type: Universal Requires Great City
King Leviathan: Ground Attack: 80 / Siege Attack: 90 / Air Attack: 42 / Ground Range: 17 / Air Range: 17 / Health: 5000 / Speed: 28 / Line of Sight: 21 / Size: Master / Armor: Heavy / Attack Type: Universal Requires Great City
Cost: 500 Timonium and 1600 Wealth. Upgrade to King Leviathan costs 450 Timonium and 1800 Wealth. population cost 20
The Land Leviathan is the Vinci Master Unit. As such, you can only have one on your side at a time. It is insanely powerful and features several skills to assist it in combat. The attack type of the leviathan is universal, meaning it does full damage to all enemies. Nothing can go toe to toe with it save another master unit or a big, big army. Even when retreating, the Land leviathan can deal great damage as it features the fire on the move ability. Its resistance to attrition damage will be a great asset to you behind enemy lines.
Here are the Land Leviathan's Skills:Burrow: This skill takes the land leviathan to any location on the map within your line of sight. This means that the land leviathan can reinforce any attack. It does take it a little while to get there, so plan ahead.
Devastator: The devastator fires a single missile at an enemy target. The damage is great. It can take out most units with a single shot. It's very useful for attacking heroes and other units that feature high hit points, if only to soften them up.
Repair Cycle: When the repair cycle is used, the land leviathan shuts down for a time. It takes much reduced damage during this period and regenerates hit points. The repair cycle is extremely useful for getting the land leviathan back on its toes after a big battle. Use it carefully, for it does take the leviathan some time to repair.
Upgrading to the king leviathan costs an awful large amount of resources but it its recommended. The increase in power is so vast that the cost almost makes it as though you had two of these massive machines. I wouldn't make upgrading a priority by any means, you could make a lot of more useful units with the resources. Still, if you have the cash to spare you can't go wrong.
