Plague City Walkthrough
What you need: Five buckets (4 full of water, 1 full of milk), chocolate dust (may need mortar to create), snape grass, rope, a spade, dwellberries, and the picture of Elena from the home of Edmond.
The Quest Rewards: The teleport Ardougne spell (requires level 51 magic to actually use), 1 quest point and 2425 mining xp.
You can save yourself a lot of trouble by gathering the items before you talk to Edmond. The buckets and rope are both found in East Ardougne which is your destination. Snape grass can be found either through the exchange or near the crafting guild. Chocolate dust, again, can be found on the exchange or created by using a mortar and pestle with a chocolate bar, which you can buy in the Ardougne market place. The dwellberries are found in McGrubor's Wood, north of Ardougne. Use the entrance on the northern side of the fence. Finally, the spade and picture are both at Edmond's house.
Begin the quest by talking to Edmond in the northwestern corner of East Ardougne. He'll be at his house near the wall. He'll tell you that his daughter has gone in to dangerous West Ardougne and he is grateful for your assistance in finding her. Gather the items mentioned above, then speak to his wife, who is nearby. She'll use the dwellberries to make you a gas mask. Put it on now. Next, speak to Edmond for a plan to break past the western wall. He'll tell you to soften the ground and dig a hole. Use buckets of water in the patch of ground in the middle of his garden. It will indicate muddy ground, or something like that. use all four buckets then dig and go down the hole.
Talk to Edmond and he'll ask you to check out the south tunnel. Head there and find a pipe with a grate. You must try to open the grate (don't accidentally climb pipe) then speak to Edmond. He'll suggest you use a rope to tie to the grate. Do so, then speak to him again and you'll have a cutscene where you and Edmond pull the grate off. Climb into the pipe and into West Ardougne.
Once inside, talk to Jethick, who is to the east in the town square where you entered. Ask him about Elena, then head north and check the Rethison house. It is the shack along the northern wall. Tell them that you have a book for them to gain entry, then talk to the mother, who'll tell you their daughter witnessed the kidnapping. She's upstairs, she says (really it's up a ladder). Talk to the little girl to find out about the house in the southeastern part of the city.
The house is all the way in the southeast, check the houses one by one and you'll see a pair of mourners outside a house with black x's on the door. Talk to the mourners who tell you that you need permission to get inside. Head to the clerk, who's in the big house north of the town square where you first entered. Tell him you need to see Brevik, then head upstairs to talk to the man himself. He needs a hangover cure. Mix the chocolate with the milk, and add in the snape grass then speak to him again. You'll get a warrant to enter the house.
Head back down south to the plague house and talk to the guard on the east side of the house. He'll turn his back when he debates the warrant with his comrade, and you'll sneak through the door. Go downstairs to find Elena, who says you need a key. It's upstairs in the barrel. Return downstairs and free Elena, then head back to the manhole. Talk to Edmond to finish the quest, and climb the rockslide to get back out. Be sure to read the magic scroll to learn the teleport Ardougne spell!
