Mission 4: Agent of the Swarm

Mission Objectives:
  • Protect the Chrysalis until it is ready to hatch

This is a critical spot to defend against the terran attackers.Right at the start, group your zerglings and hydralisks and set them in the area in the screenshot. Most of the terran attacks will come from that direction as they will be using their drop ships to bring troops in small groups. Build up eight drones to gather minerals from your current patch, then build another hatchery north of your base. There are more minerals there. You should set another four drones to gather from that location. Then, you can get vespene gas from your existing extractor.

Your economy's up and running pretty quickly, so you can start building necessary buildings. Get everything except the queen's nest, as it's not a real necessity. You already have two queens. When your hydralisk den is complete get out more hydralisks to help defend your base while the clock winds down. When you've got all buildings and have started the process of upgrading your units, send a queen to the east of your base. When you reach the eastern side of the map you'll locate the base of Raynor.

While you're waiting on the countdown to complete, the terran attacks will become more fierce. Set up sunken colonies in areas that are undefended (such as your northern expansion base). Also if your forces are dying from the repeat terran attacks reinforce them with more hydralisks. Transporting for the overlords and the increase in their speed is a necessity, so upgrade both of your hatcheries to lairs and research those abilities. When your lairs are done and you've started research on those, grab a spire so you can build mutalisks. Don't bother upgrading them.

Assault with your mutalisks from the air and clear this area of anti-air capabilities to bring in your overlords.By the time the countdown is over and the Chrysalis hatches you should be ready to start producing your force to attack Raynor's base. Get eight mutalisks first off, these will be used to soften the anti-air defenses of the terran base while your overlords go in with ground forces. The ground force should consist of fifteen zerglings and kerrigan (as they will fit into two overlords) and 16 hydralisks in four more overlords. Your mutalisks should move just ahead of the overlords and attack the missile turrets in the area in the screenshot. Be wary of taking your overlords in before the anti-air (turrets) are destroyed. It would be a terrible loss should Kerrigan's overlord be destroyed. Drop them in a safe area and continue to focus fire with your mutalisks. When everyone's out, cloak Kerrigan and begin destroying any terran units. Move northeast toward Raynor's base. Don't bother destroying any other buildings. When Raynor's command center is done for, you're victorious.
