Chapter One: Landfall

Mission Objectives:
  • Discover Where the Other Ships Have Landed
  • Thrall Must Survive

I've been looking forward to this campaign, and I bet you have too. Thrall's chain lightning spell makes me like him more than the other heroes. Anyway, on to the mission. Begin by breaking open the crates on the beach. One of them contains a potion of mana. Next, head to the northeast and fight the creatures you find here. Now you can see a small path that leads southeast. Follow it, and you'll encounter a couple bronze dragon whelps. Thrall's chain lightning spell will make short work of them and the headhunters can target flying units like Thrall can. Break open the crates the dragons were near and you'll find a ring of protection +1.

Now go back to the path and head north. You'll have a choice of two paths - northwest and northeast. Take the northwestern path to fight some murlocs. One of them has three healing wards you can use when your units are damaged. The healing wards heal units within a large area around them. So, if your units are about to die in an upcoming fight make them flee and heal. Saving even one of them is a worthy cause as you only have four.

Now head back and take the northeastern path. There are some crates here you can break open to reveal a scroll of protection. You should save it for a big fight. Now, take the northern path past the burning tree and kill the centaurs for some experience, then head southeast along the beach and fight the creatures your orcs comment on. One of them drops three more healing wards. Futher on you'll see two stranded headhunters being guarded by more razormanes who will join your party.

Head east of here, going past the trees and you'll see a group of centaurs fighting another group. Slaughter them all for the experience. Further southeast you'll see a burning boat. Kill the murlocs here for even more experience. Now look a little to the north and you'll see another path you can take to the northeast. If I've explained it correctly it should be the only path you can take at this point. Here you'll encounter two headhunters and a grunt who will join you. Southeast of them is a crate you can break open to nab a lion's ring (+1 agility).

Now head north, and you'll see that once again your path splits. Take the northeastern one and kill the harpies to get yourself a scroll of the beast. Go back and take the northwestern path and you'll see some thunder lizards. Kill them to get Thrall a potion of mana. If you can't hold it but need the mana drop something for now, use the mana potion then pick up your other item.

Head to the north and you'll see some centaurs running off to the north. Keep heading along this path and you'll come to some razormanes and quillboars guarding a fountain of health. Kill them and camp here a while to heal up your troops to full. Now contine to the southeast. You'll come across a beach. When you do, head west and you'll encounter some monsters. Kill them and then destroy their hut to reveal a wand of lightning shield. Keep it for use on your melee units when you come to a big battle. It'll help a lot. Imagine lightning shield and the scroll of protection you have access to, nice!

Now head back to the north and you'll see some more monsters. One drops a manual of health. Get it for Thrall (again if you don't have enough room make some then pick up the item you dropped) and use it to give him +50 permenant hit points. Cool eh? Now head back south along the beach and you'll encounter some more orcs who will join you. There is a potion of healing in a crate here and a group of centaurs will attack you. Kill them off and head a little east and you'll meet Cairne. Follow him to his village.

When you arrive, several waves of centaurs will attack you. There's nothing to fear here. Kill them off one by one. I doubt Cairne and his people really needed your help but at least they're a grateful bunch. When the last centaur falls the mission is complete. If Thrall gains his second level here I recommend you take the feral spirit ability. The wolves are good fodder for Thrall to stand back and do his ranged damage. And they can deal some damage themselves as well.
