Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne Walkthrough for Undead Scourge:
Chapter 8: A Symphony of Frost and Flame
Main Quest: The Frozen Throne
This is unquestionably the hardest chapter in Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne. You must prevent Illidan from capturing all Four Obelisks, while working to capture them all yourself. First, hotkey all your units and attack the Naga to the south. When they're all dead, summon a haunted gold mine and make a necropolis. Now take Arthas to the sacrificial skulls that are on the ground. Drop two items and pick up the skulls while you send an acolyte north to haunt the other gold mine. Place the first skull where you found them, so that you can immediately summon a graveyard and crypt. East of your base place blight so that you can build six spirit towers, leaving plenty of room for your units to pass by them.
You want six ghouls total harvesting lumber, and from your necropolis will need a total of eight acolytes to start with. Take Arthas, Anub'arak and the crypt fiends north by your second gold mine to guard against the blood elves and Kael. While you wait on the acolytes to train, upgrade the eastern ziggurats to spirit towers. When the last acolyte is out, use him to summon an Altar of Darkness while you upgrade your necropolis to halls of the dead. Since this is a bit of a waiting game, start upgrading the unholy strength/unholy armor line of upgrades at the graveyard. You're going to need them!
While you continue to wait on your halls of the dead upgrade, make about four ziggurats to the north of your main base to hold off any enemy attackers. When your halls of the dead is done, immediately upgrade for a black citadel. Use your acolyte to make two temples of the damned and a slaughterhouse then place four more ziggurats directly east of your northern gold mine. Wait for red to attack the second time then use Arthas and company to head north toward the archway which leads to the center. Take Anub'arak through first, and use Locust swarm after he has drawn the attacks of the revenants. Send your lone acolyte to the north at this point to haunt the gold mine by the obelisk. During this little time period your temples of the damned will be completed. Set their waypoints to the same location within your base to begin gathering an army of twelve necromancers. When the slaughterhouse is done make two additional meat wagons. This is a good starting force for assaulting the Naga. The very moment your black citadel is done, make five more acolytes to both top off the new gold mine and build ziggurats for you at the newly controlled obelisk. As soon as you have blight around the new gold mine make a double line of ziggurats that extends to the south. Making the ziggurats is more important than harvesting from the gold mine presently. The idea is to make an 8x2 line that extends to the south so that Illidan will be severely held up when he attacks your obelisk. Arthas and company need to be active in defending whichever location gets attacked.
While you're waiting on the Haunted gold mine to come online, send Arthas and company a little west just past the archway and to the south near the ramp that leads to your first expansion so they can better defend both locations. Illidan shouldn't attack you at your new base, but Kael's red base might come after you. Be ready, regardless. Back at your base, grab the upgrades for your necromancers. Make them masters with skeletal longevity and skeletal mages. Get the exhume corpses upgrade for your four meat wagons, as well. While you wait send your shade east of your base to scout out the location of the naga so you can know where to lay down corpses from your meat wagons for the necromancers. Don't send out your attacks until every last one of your spirit towers at the new expansion near the obelisk are complete. For that matter, you might as well wait for Illidan's first attack, set an acolyte to repair the damage then send our your attack to the east.
Your group of necromancers and meat wagons should know where to go based on the data you received from the shade. Place your troops just outside firing range and drop all the corpses your meat wagons carry. Note that auto-cast raise dead should not be used. Drop the corpses, then use your necromancers to raise skeletons 1 time. This will bring about a huge force of skeletons. You will send waves of skeletons in this manner into the Naga base. The method for attacking with such a strange force is to double-click a skeletal mage or normal skeleton, then press a and left click inside the enemy base. This will cause your skeletons to run into the fray. You will make your own pile of bodies for summoning and gradually move east. This army is practically invincible if you do this right. The first push will be very bloody, and you'll lose a lot of skeletons. Walk toward the corpse pile with your necromancers and press R once more to raise another army. When the count of bodies wears down use your meat wagons to drop more again. During this battle watch out for anyone attacking your obelisk base. When the Naga are defeated, you can expand to their gold mine, granting you a nice extra chunk of cash.
When the Naga are defeated, you'll have one less thing to worry about. Continue the cycle of repairing any lost spirit towers by your obelisk while you assemble your meat wagons and necromancers outside the red Alliance base controlled by Prince Kael'Thas. This battle will go much the same as the one with the Naga, only will last much longer because their base is better defended. If something goes wrong and your attack group wipes out, you can easily replace them. In fact, if you take too long to eliminate the red base you will eventually find that Illidan has run out of money and can't even resurrect himself.
With neither Vashj nor Kael to worry about now, you are free to capture more obelisks. As I said, Illidan may run out of gold. Use your necromancer/meat wagon combo to begin running the circle. None of the expansions in the ring are as strong as the bases you've already fought. Use your shade to scout out Illidan's location and track his movements. If your order a shade to 'attack' Illidan by right clicking, you can watch his every move. Work the circle and capture all four obelisks to win the match.
