Up to Mulgore Quests

Starting out as a Tauren:

When you first begin your life as a Tauren, you can take two quests. The first, The Hunt Begins, will be from the guy in front of you, Grull Hawkwind. Another quest can be taken from Chief Hawkwind, who is in the building on the northwestern side of the camp.

Quest: A Humble Task, Parts 1 & 2
You can find the Chief of Camp Narache's mother at this well in MulgoreThis quest is acquired from Chief Hawkwind in Camp Narache. The goal is simply to locate his mother near the well to the southeast of the camp. You should do so first, to be efficient. Head directly to the southeast of the camp and you will see a well with a spinning top. The Chief's mother is nearby. As you approach her, you should see a yellow dot appear on your mini-map. When you're in range, right click her to open the complete quest dialog box. You will be given 17 copper coins (your first money!) and around 85 experience points. When you are done, accept her new quest to return water to the village. There are several water pitchers surrounding the well. Right click one and you will receive the water to return to Chief Hawkwind.

Quest: The Hunt Begins
Behind the well, to the southeast of the camp, are the plainstriders you need to kill. The drop rate for both items you are to gather from the flightless birds is very high, so it should not take too many kills to complete the quest. You should see that your experience bar moves quite quickly when you kill these birds. Enjoy this for now, because at later levels it takes a good deal more work to gain a level.

You will likely fill your backpack up with loot as you kill the plainstriders. When you pick up a piece of armor, check to see if it is better than what you are currently wearing in that slot by loading the character sheet (default 'c' or the head icon on the bottom toolbar). This will help to free up your inventory and increase your armor, making your enemies deal less damage to you. You should gain your first level-up killing plainstriders. Rejoice, for at every even numbered level you gain the ability to learn new skills and spells. When you have all the meat and feathers you need, return to the camp. Load your map and look for Camp Narache if you are for some reason lost. When you return to camp, first see the people with the glowing gold question marks over their heads (yellow dots on the mini-map) to turn in your quest for rewards.

Onward, Tauren hero!

After you've returned to the camp and turned in your quests, visit a shop to sell all the junk in your backpack. You may want to keep food or drink that recovers health and mana to make your regeneration go faster between battles. With your new cash in hand, run about the camp talking to anyone with a gold exclamation point and getting new quests. Grull Hawkwind should provide two to you, one of which is to teach you the location of your class trainer. Visit your trainer (read the note to learn of their location) and learn new skills! Drag the skill(s) from the spellbook (default P key, also accessible from the action bar) to your action bar to make using it during combat easier.

You should have two quests at this point: Rites of the Earthmother and The Hunt Continues

Quest: Rites of the Earthmother
The Seer's Hut can be seen in the distance, south of Camp NaracheLike the well quest, this is a simple quest to get you started on traveling. Head directly south of the camp and you will see Seer Graytongue's hut in the distance. It's not a very long walk. When you arrive at him and turn in the quest, you will get some XP (possibly pushing you to level 3). Accept his new quest for you, which offers you a free new weapon of your choice when you complete it.

Quest: The Hunt Continues
This is one of my favorite circumstances in World of Warcraft. You just turned in a quest and the next objective is staring you straight in the eyes. North of the Seer's hut are numerous mountain lions. You should kill as many as you can to get the pelts you need. Although you may finish the quest, you should continue to kill cougars until you reach the fourth level, so that you can return to town and train before taking on your next quest.

Return to town, and your trainer. Sell off any junk in your backpack and make preparations to do a quest with a reward you can really sink your horns into.
