C&C Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge Allied Walkthrough
Mission 2: Operation Hollywood and Vain
Mission Objectives:There are hollywood actors here who are very powerful in combat. You can find Flint Westwood just northeast of your starting area. He's like Tanya with infantry but to me it seems like he fires a bit slower and has a shorter range. Anyway, he's good base defense at first. And you will be able to construct your own base this time. Build your base and garrison nearby buildings with GIs, place some Guardians around to slow down tanks. You'll have to watch for psychics in this level so get your radar up and build a small group of attack dogs you can keep on call. It's worth it to save your men as, if a guardian is next to a garrisoned building when he is mind controlled he's probably toast.
Build some grand cannons around your base but don't go overboard, just try to have good coverage to punish some lasher tanks. The grand cannons are truly awesome defensive structures with that massive range. Once your spy satellite is up and running it's time to get planning. I found the grinder to the northwest to be the least defended and sent a group of prism tanks and guardian GIs to deal with them. I deploy the guardians next to the prism tanks to deal with any vehicles that get too close - the prism tanks' prime targets are psychics. Keep an eye out, prism tanks are expensive and you don't want one of them turned against you. With the grinder destroyed I recieved Arnnie Frankenfurter. He's really tough so I kept him along in my attack force which by now had some veterancy going for it. Just next to the base there I captured the oil derrick and placed a grand cannon and a couple pillboxes to defend it. At this point I had a well defended base and my prism tanks were cleaning up some gatling cannons to gain some elite status. Since the gatling cannons can't reach a prism tank I started with the weakest and destroyed enemy structures that were undefended until they were all elite not wasting experience by letting elite kill anything.
A problem had presented itself in that the ore deposits around my base were runing low. Garrison buildings around other deposits with GIs and some along the path your miners must take to get there. It is as always wise to repair any damaged vehicles in a service depot. Next I attacked the base in the northwest corner of the map. It fell without a single loss as Yuri really just isn't prepared to handle the power of even just four prism tanks yet! My prism tanks rolled about the map destroying yuri's structures. I left everything except the main base. However I did venture a little close to destroy the slave miners he had working outside it. Any economic victory is a huge victory!
I found Sammy Stallion to the northeast in the stadium. I think he's the most useful of the heroes in this mission. He can blow up buildings with one shot! I saved him at home for my assault on the main Yuri base. It took some time and a *few* losses but I eventually had the map wiped clean of purple (harriers help a lot here for garrisoned buildings) with only the main base left. My chronosphere was ready and I started construction of a grand cannon. I loaded a helicopter with an engineer and all the actors I'd found and put five prism tanks around it. I activated my chronosphere and shifted that group to the back of Yuri's base (where it's least defended) and the ass kicking was thorough. Especially when you capture a building and deploy that grand cannon. The prism tanks tore up the buildings while the grand cannon defended them. I built another and another and the base was mine. Easy, but long.
