Mission 6: Operation Trick or Treaty
Mission Objectives:You will be presented with a countdown timer until Yuri's forces attack. They will be coming from the river area (you can see the two landing zones if you take a look) and the bridges. You will need to establish good defenses on the air and land fronts if you hope to be successful. Exploring the other side of the river reveals a machine shop, hospital and three oil derricks you can capture. Build plenty of patriot missiles and prism towers. Yuri is going to use UFOs for the first time later in this attack. If even one manages to get on top of a power plant your base's power goes offline so keep a small (3-4) group of IFVs around to deal with them. Why IFVs? Well, guardian GIs can be killed by the Virus units yuri sends and they don't pose much of a threat other than to infantry. You will want prism tanks guarding your base mostly but be sure to garrison the buildings with GIs. Try to extend the building range around Parliament so you can set up some prism towers and pillboxes there. I also recommend a squadron of harriers as they cannot be mind controlled and what is perhaps Yuri's nastiest unit is coming for you. The mastermind mind controls anything in range that well, has a mind. So keep units that are susceptible to this away from it. Only air units, attack dogs, Tanya and robot tanks are immune.
Keep the group of harriers hotkeyed and use them only to destroy masterminds. Four of them can destroy one. The masterminds come in groups of two though so you'll have to deal with the other - robot tanks? It's important throughout the battle to continuously replenish your forces. Losing one prism tank to a wave of tanks may not seem like a lot but yuri is going to beat down your forces! When it's finally over the map expands to reveal Yuri's base and the Soviets arrive to lend a helping hand. Two dreadnoughts, three attack subs, three scorpions and three transports loaded with tesla troopers and rhino tanks. I used the dreadnoughts wisely, softening up Yuri's base with them. Just escort them with the submarines and you'll do fine. Build your own naval shipyard with an aircraft carrier or two and you'll be able to bombard the hell out of Yuri's base without fear of repurcussion after his shipyard is destroyed. I actually finished this entire battle with my sea units. Once the construction yard is destroyed Yuri will send every unit he has to your base. Just prepare a moderate defense and have harriers strike at the masterminds.
