Chapter 2

Get Injured and Return to Moira
  • Return to Moira at less than 50% hp
  • Optional: Sustain a crippling injury and return with 50% hp
Probably the simplest way to get injured is to save the game outside the craterside supply and do some long jumps. You may need to use some healing items (not on your limbs) to sustain enough damage to a leg to have it crippled. Other ways include using mines and shooting them to cause damage to yourself. If you go that route, be sure to do it away from residents of Megaton so you don't accidentally start a fight.

Test Moira's Repellent on Mole Rats

  • Test the Repellent on Three Mole Rats
  • Optional: Test it on Seven Mole Rats
As with the quest to go to minefield, getting there is half the fun. Head directly east of Megaton until you reach the water. You'll see some rocks and a landing to the northeast from your location, which is a ramp you can climb up to reach the place you need to be. Head toward it on land, then do a bit of swimming. You shouldn't take any more radiation than a single rad-away will cure. When you reach the ramp, head south along the river. At only level 3, I encountered some centaurs here. Thankfully they are tough, but not all that damaging. Continue south along this side of the river, and you will eventually reach the Tepid Sewers. From here, if you are doing poorly for some reason, you can return to Megaton to heal up, buy items etc. then return with fast travel. At any rate, go inside and start slaughtering mole rats. One hit and they start smoking. Smack them a couple more times and they'll die violently. Work to getting to the seven mole rats objective, as it isn't hard and the optional quests lead to a better perk later. What's more, this area has some decent loot for you and can lead to a fast travel location for later. Make your way north through the subway (there are raiders, be careful) to find the georgetown west travel point. When you're done, head to the exit and return to Moira through fast travel. You may not be able to fast travel on the Georgetown side, because there are enemies nearby.

Hide Observer Among the Mirelurk Eggs

  • Hide Observer
  • Hide Observer without killing any Mirelurks
There are several options to complete this quest. You can either go through the main entrance, which is near the entrance to the Tepid Sewers, or go through with 25 lockpicking skill to the easy lock to the southeast of the main entrance. If you can go the second route, you should. 25 lockpicking isn't hard to come by, and you should probably have this basic skill with any character. To find the sevice entrance, go west from the main entrance and follow the water around to the south. You'll find the pickable door, and there are mirelurk eggs straight from the entrance. Get close, drop the observer by clicking on the mirelurk eggs then run out even if you are attacked and return to Moira.
