Civilization 5 India - Leader: Gandhi

Civ Specials, Strategies, Unique Units and Buildings

Civilization Name:  Civilization 5: India LeaderIndia

Civ Leader: Gandhi

Special Ability: Population Growth: Unhappiness from the number of Cities is doubled, but Unhappiness from Population size in current city is halved.

Unique Unit: War Elephant: Requires The Wheel Tech, Upgrades to Knight The War Elephant replaces the war chariot. It loses one move, but gains double the melee combat strength and gains +2 ranged power as well. That's a fair tradeoff. No Ivory required. Great! Despite the move penalty theyl still keep pace with your other ground troops and aid a lot in bringing down cities. Ancient Era Butt Kickings galore.

Unique Building: Mughal Fort: Requires Chivalry Tech, Walls Constructed The Mughal Fort is a great step up from the castle it replaces. Instead of a +7.5 defense bonus, it grants 9. It also costs 180 vs 200 resources and gives +2 culture. It's still a situational building and should probably be built on border cities. It does give gold when it becomes obsolete, so in the future it will begin paying for itself. Walls are pretty much useless ater flight.

Strategies/Ideas: Ahh, the choice for those among us who don't like massive sprawling empires and wouldn't mind making our way diplomatically. India is great at having about three or four cities with massive populations. Their Mughal Fort encourages a potential Cultural or Scientific Victory. Gandhi would not be my choice for conquest. Clearly their War Elephant is powerful and will be great at relieving CIvilizations of their cities, but it'd probably be best served taking out City-States and converting them into Puppet States.
