Quest Start: After escorting Dr. Li and the scientists of Project Purity to the Citadel
  • Escort Dr. Li inside the Citadel
After a brief talk with Dr. Li, Elder Lyons will be available for you to talk to. He can tell you how to wear power armor, by talking to Paladin Gunny in the "bailey". The Bailey is actually the place you first enter, aka the courtyard. He'll also mention that you need to talk to Rothchild about pre-war computer access. There is quite a bit to get done here. I'll list some of the features here of the citadel below.

  • How to Wear Power Armor: Wait until around noon at the courtyard. Paladin Gunny only appears there during the day training the Brotherhood soldiers. Talk to him and ask about Power Armor Training. He'll oblige, grudgingly. Once the training is done you can wear any form of Power Armor!

  • What to do with Brotherhood Holotags: During the day, Scribe Jameson can be found in the Archives of the A-Ring in the Citadel. Holotags are somewhat rare, but turning them in gets you 100 caps and some XP.

Once you've taken care of your business here, head to the southwestern side of the courtyard to the Laboratory. Talk to Rothchild about access to the computer to look for the G.E.C.K. and he'll direct you to the Archives in the A-ring. There is an entrance to the A-ring up the stairs from the laboratory. The Archives are on the southern side of the A-ring. Access the "Vault-Tec Terminal" on the southern wall and access information about Vault 87. Look up the Order Requisition Forms and you'll see that the Vault has a G.E.C.K (Garden of Eden Creation Kit).

Return to Scribe Rothchild to learn the location of Vault 87 and Lamplight Caverns. This is a great time to visit some shops, repair and sell anything you don't need. I also recommend a trip to your bed in either Megaton or Tenpenny tower to gain a rested bonus. Find the closest location on your map to Lamplight Caverns and travel there. For me, it was Smith Casey's Garage. It's really not very far from there, so if this is your only option it's not a bad one. I fought a Giant Radscorpion (what an ammo sink!), several supermutant brutes and a Yao Guai on the way. Thankfully, at this point these guys aren't very challenging. When you get to Lamplight, check the shack nearby for some ammo and possibly other items, then head inside the caverns themselves.

Mayor MacCready will basically let you know you are a filthy Mungo (big person) and won't let you in to Little Lamplight. If you have the child at heart perk, you can sway him in your favor allowing you access inside, but if not you're going to need to rescue the captured children from Paradise Falls. I'll assume this scenario, and the Main Quest continues with Rescue from Paradise. Once you have gained access to Little Lamplight, the quest changes to Finding the Garden of Eden. If you go through Murder Pass, it's not as bad as it sounds as you can gain a lot of xp here and the Super Mutants just aren't very hard.
